Persistent Pain Programme is a free self-management course for people who live with day-to-day persistent pain. The course looks at:
- Meeting and sharing experiences with others in a similar situation
- Overcoming common misconceptions, fears and belief about pain
- Pacing daily activities
- Stretching and exercising techniques – where to begin
- Action planning and goal setting
- Problem solving
- Keeping a pain diary and tracking your progress
- Medication management
- Healthy eating
- Relaxation
- How to improve communication skills
- Dealing with set backs
Who can take part?
Any adult with any type of persistent pain can attend. This could include muscular pain, nerve pain, joint pain and other medical conditions which cause pain.
Practicalities
Persistent Pain is delivered by trained and accredited tutors, living with persistent pain themselves, who have become good pain self-managers.
