Are you a tutor, assessor or lead trainer?
To ensure that NHS patients only attend courses delivered to robust quality guidelines, the Department of Health has asked the Expert Patients Programme Community Interest Company (EPP CIC) to set up a register of accredited tutors and trainers to help maintain quality standards and support tutor development.

Becoming an assessor
Self-management assessors are accredited tutors who receive further training to carry out assessments and monitoring visits to assess the competency of tutors. To become an assessor, a tutor will have to go through the following process:
- A comprehensive recruitment procedure
- Attendance at a standardised training event of up to 12 hours
- Observe the practice of an accredited assessor
- Carry out an assessment and receive feedback
- Supply copies of assessment paperwork for audit
- Gain accreditation (once the above stages have been successfully completed)
- Retain accreditation through attending one supervision group per year
